What's New In Beta 2.6?
As Silicon Ice Development draws closer to a final version of Beta 2.6, we thought we would list some of the upcoming changes that are being included. Some of the information included in this list will still be "general" in nature, not including many details. Most of this information has been previously released at different intervals of our 2.6 development cycle. The list was compiled from our .plan files over on the Silicon Ice web site, contained in previous news on this site or from discussions in the Urban Terror Forums.

-Team Survivor code completely rewritten
-/matchready added for teams to "warm up"
-g_casualtieswins rule add
-reduced the movement penalty
-improved helmet, now a head shot is non-lethal
-M4 tweaked
-G36 tweaked
-AK103 added
-SPAS tweaked
-Sniper rifles tweaked
-new UMP45 model
-new UMP45 skin
-new AK103 skin
-tweaked PSG-1 skin
-Riyadh completely updated
-Docks spawns changed, minor textures altered
-Uptown, changes to layout and spawns
-Rommel, minor bugs and new water caulk, improved FPS
-user interface changes
-callvote now includes matchready, matchstart
-callvote to turn friendlyfire on/off
-ability to kick bots from botmenu
-added the AK to the primary weapon menu
-flash grenade less intense when looking away
-new shake effect when grenades explode
-improved explosion code, so it doesn't go through floors
-hold insta-arm HEs too long for a good time
-implemented a miniMap
-included cg_mapsize
-included cg_mapalpha
-included cg_maparrowscale
-included map arrowalpha
-included cg_mappos
-grenades no longer disappear when thrown through doors
-rotating door code improved, players don't stick
-ARIES hit detection values changed
-precipitation on terrain added (snow and rain)
-updated sounds
-eliminated all known wallhacks

As for a release date for Beta 2.6, we are still approximately a month away. Seeing as QuakeCon 2002 is rapidly approaching, we have work to finish and features to test before some of the development team leave for this event. As we draw closer to the release date, we will keep you up to date on the development and all the release information.
